Keeping Busy on a Couple of Snow Days

Earlier this week, a snowstorm came through town. So we have been keeping busy doing various things around the house. Like counting down til Santa comes!!

I have to admit, its been kind of nice to be "trapped" at home. Its given me a chance to go though stuff in our house. We are getting ready to put our house up for sale in January. So yesterday the boys and I went through all their upstairs toys and closet to get rid of unwanted things. Its interesting as Alex wants to throw away everything and Josh wants to KEEP everything. It always amazes me that when you start a project like this, it explodes everywhere!! Like down the upstairs hallway!

Lately, Josh has enjoyed making ornaments for our tree.

He has been busy cutting, drawing and taping some pretty cool ornaments. Here are the two that he did yesterday. A snowman...

and (my personal favorite) a family one. It says "I love you" on it too. Definite keeper!

Don't you just love our hair?!?! Makes me smile!

Of course on a snow day, we HAVE to go out and play right? And we did several different times that day. Yesterday felt like I dressed and undressed kids all day. It is quite a chore! All the hats, boots, snow pants, gloves and coats! It wears me out thinking of it!! But its one of those things that is worth it. And its gotten easier each year as each kid can help put things on and take things off! A couple of years ago I spent more time dressing and undressing than we did outside! Now its the opposite! We spend way more time outside now!

When there wasn't too much snow they had fun riding their bikes.

Later, when there was more snow, they had fun shoveling the deck and yard...

making snow angels...

eating the snow....

throwing the snow...

playing in the snow...

and finally sledding down our non existent hill out front...

They had a great time every time they went out. Plus they got a cup of hot chocolate when they came back in. Very exciting!!

Another great part of our snow day, was that Matt got to work from home. We are really happy about that.

  1. Aw, I love that last photo of Matt & the boys! And Annalie says, "I wish I was there to play in the snow with them!"
