There are Witches in the...

Well, kitchen. They might be in the air too, but yesterday they were in my kitchen.

Aren't they cute?

The boys and I had tons of fun making them. And then some more fun passing them out to our neighbors. They were cute and delicious!

Christmas

Christmas was good....for the most part. The big blizzard that has come through has really messed up our Christmas plans. For the last three days all plans to get together with family have been canceled/postponed. So that has been a bummer. But instead of sulking around about it we are trying to make the best of the situation. Santa still came. Matt, the boys and I had a wonderful time together. Christmas Eve the boys set out milk, cookies and letters to Santa.

The next morning all the cookies and milk (and letters) were gone but there were lots of presents that he left!! The boys were really excited! It has been SO MUCH fun this year. The boys have really been into Santa. Its been great!

The boys started to sort out everyone's gifts. Then ripped them all apart! It was awesome hearing all the squeals of excitement!!

They were really good boys this year as Santa brought them what they had asked for! Alex got his Batman slippers. He has been wearing them ever since. (minus the times we are our playing in the snow that is)

Josh got his aqua sand that he asked Santa for. Zach got his Color Shifter Car Wash he asked for. The picture of Zach didn't turn out, so that is why I don't have one posted for you to enjoy.

This is what our living room looked like after present opening.

This is my day 7 of 7 Days shot. I call it "The Triplet Tornado."

After opening presents, I started to make ebelskiver a Christmas morning tradition. Growing up my grandma K used to make this for me when I would visit. It was something I would always look forward to. Since she has passed its a way for me to remember her. I really miss her. Plus they are REALLY delicious!!

I have decided that I need to make these more than just once a year. We all ate them like candy.

After breakfast was over, we played the rest of the day with our new toys. It was a lot of fun!! With triplets, we had LOTS of new things to play with. Like Zach's new carwash....

And a magnetic marble maze thing....

and geomags

and Rocky the Robot (who Alex has decided to call Chuck)

and aqua sand (messy but cool)

and car ramp stuff...

and pinball

and a new hul mask. We had hulk hands but Alex got Josh the mask to go with it. It was funny, Josh asked me to take his picture then asked to see it. I showed it to him and he goes "woah. I am scary!"

These were just some of the things that we did. I had a ton of fun putting lego stuff together. I never knew legos were so fun!!

Today we are still snowed in. Just waiting for the plows to come. I am starting to go a little stir crazy. There is only so many train tracks I can build or games of connect 4 I can do before I go a little silly! We did go outside again a little today. Here are some of he pictures I took of what our area looks like. This is a snow drift at the end of our driveway. As you can see its almost as tall as Matt.

Here are the boys sledding down a drift in the front.

We went out back to build a tunnel through the snow. We all thought that was a ton of fun!

Day 6 of Seven Days

Wow...I am a blogging maniac this week!! Part of it is because lots has been going on to blog about. And part of it is because I am doing the Seven Days photo project. This is my day 6 of 7 days picture. Its me by my frozen lilac bush. During winter time there is nothing prettier than icy trees. They are so pretty. I think in Swedish its called a horfrost.

A big storm is headed our way. With the weather, comes a change of plans. This morning I was really grumpy and sad about it. But then decided that life is what you make out of it. So instead of sulking all day about not getting together with family tonight for Christmas, Matt, the boys and I tried to do some fun things around here. First we all stayed in our pajamas until lunch time. That was great!! Then we decided to make a variety of cookies. Christmas is the time for baking right?

Josh and Zach were especially excited about this. Alex was happy too of course, but Josh and Zach seem to really enjoy cooking more than Alex. I liked that we all made cookies together as a family.

Zach is a cookie dough monster!! He (and I) would much rather eat the dough than the actual cookie.

Yesterday we made sugar cookies for Santa. Today we made peanut butter blossoms. These have always been a favorite cookie of mine but I have never made them before. I am not sure why. But I am definitely going to be making them again!! They were heaven....especially coming out of the oven when the chocolate was all melty.

HEAVEN!!

We even let the boys put the kisses on top. They were good at it and I was happy they didn't get burned! :)

This was an alternate of my seven days shot. The boys and I were being silly in the reflection of the mixer.

We also made oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. Those were good too, but not as good as the peanut butter ones. But really is there any better combination than peanut butter and chocolate together?

Thanksgiving Weekend

Thanksgiving was wonderful!! I couldn't have asked for a better day! This year I decided to host. I am not sure why exactly I thought that was going to be fun or easy, but before I thought it through invited everyone. I ended up having about 20 people over. After everyone was invited, I became a little nervous. I have NEVER made a turkey before. I worried that I would run out of food. What was I thinking!! :) However, everything was wonderful!! The day before I subbed at the Gingerbread house. Which was a BLAST!! (And then that night I won a TV- see post before this one) But in relation to Thanksgiving Matt and I set all the tables and got as much done as we could. Matt's mom even came over to help get thing ready. Very thankful for that!!

Thanksgiving day I made the turkey. And I am so proud!! It turned out perfect! Now I wonder why I haven't done that before. It was so easy!!

The guests came around lunchtime. I was happy that my aunt Jane and uncle Bert were able to make it up from Kansas to join in on the fun!! But was sad that my Uncle Harry was sick and couldn't enjoy the fun. Zach was so excited for the party to begin! He started to do a turkey dance.

When everyone arrived, we chatted and played legos until the food was all ready.

Then, we all ate the yummy and delicious food!!

We toasted to being together.

Here is Alex's dinner. His eating habits kill me!! :) Out of all that delicious food all he ate was grapes and rolls?!?!

After dinner, some of us played the wii.

Grandma and Josh
There was even a pillow fight at one point.

Desserts were served.

One of the things that I was thankful for was the cool day. I had to use my deck as a refrigerator. There was NO WAY all that food was going to fit in my fridge! Here I was worried about running out of food. Silly me!!!

By the end of the day, we were all word out!!

Zach

So Thanksgiving has come and gone....now onto the next holiday!! The rest of the weekend was a whirlwind. We are getting our house ready to put up for sale soon, so we did things to get ready for that. We shopped a little. I went to the gym a couple of times to counteract all the food I ate on Thursday. I went out to breakfast with friends. We put the lights up outside and decorated the tree.

Of course our tree isn't complete without my frog on top!

To end the weekend we took the boys to see Santa. Before we left, Josh made a picture for Santa, which I thought was really sweet.

In case you can't read his note, it says "Josh Venn To I heart U Santa"
And then we were off to see Santa. We went to Bass Pro Shop. I would highly recommend taking your kids there. Not only are the pictures free, but the Santa looks REAL!! They were crazy busy that day, but they were really organized and things flowed really smoothly!! It was great! Here are the pictures I took.
