A few months ago, we went into the Cox Communications Store to check out the new 3D tvs. While we were there Cox was having a Mother's Day contest. I think we just entered it and didn't really even know what it was. Almost a year ago I blogged about winning a TV. If you want to read or re-read about that fun experience click HERE. That was one crazy experience!! :) Anyway after that winning experience, Matt and I have been entering a few more contests. Not in a crazy obsessive way. More along the lines of if we see one we will enter it.
Well, a few weeks ago, we got a call saying Matt won the Mother's Day grand prize from Cox communications. YIPPPEEEEE!! It wasn't as dramatic as my story. Neither Matt nor I continued to hang up on the nice lady. But still very cool none the less. What did Matt win- you may be asking yourself? He won a brand new 52" TV, a blue ray player, a $50 gift certificate to Hallmark AND a years worth of cable TV! WOOOOO HOOOOO!!! We are all very excited about this!!
However after winning another TV we have a new family rule- no more entering contests that involve TVs. :) I think we have enough now. Hee hee

Oh, Johnny! What Happened?
When I was thirteen, 21 Jumpstreet was my FAVORITE tv show. I remember it well. It started out with the neon 21 flashing on and off til finally coming on. Then the spray paint sound that wrote out JumpStreet across the screen. Then Holly Robinson would start singing that catchy little 80s tune. At least I think it was her singing it. Anyway this show was packed with action, adventure, humor and my hero- Johnny Depp! That is where I first discovered Johnny Depp and fell deeply and madly in love with him. My 13 year old self just KNEW we would get married and live happily every after. I had plastered posters of him all over my walls....with a few Corey Haim thrown in there too...oh and an INXS poster. But Johnny was the star. That was for sure!! I think at one point I had 45 pictures of him. Here is a picture of one of the many posters I had:
Here is how dorky I was- I cut out a picture of me, and then cut out a picture of him from TeenBop and then taped us together. Clip art in its beginnings folks. I even had cut out his hand so it looked like his arm was around me. I carried that in my wallet for YEARS. Far past my 13 year old "its ok to be that weird" phase. And if I want to be honest with all of you....I still have it. BUT it isn't in my wallet....its in a safe place now. It started to fall apart. ANYWAY...
You can imagine my excitement when Netflix instant queue had 21 Jumpstreet for my viewing pleasure. Last night I finally had a chance to start watching my hero save all the high schoolers from drugs, gangs, porn, molestation, and robberies. After 2 episodes.....yeah....its no longer in my queue anymore. What was in my head was WAY better than it is now. What happened? It was cheesy, stereotypical, a tad racist, not good acting, the special effects were SO FAKE and just plain -not good. Were shows in the 80's really that bad? No way am I going to watch Facts of Life again!! The only good thing about the show was that Johnny Depp was still as hot as ever. Needless to say, I have removed all episodes from the queue. I think I would rather remember it as I have it in my head than taint it with watching it again. :( Oh, Johnny it just isn't what it was.

wha..wha....WHAT!?!?!? Did that just really happen?
Wednesday night about 9pm our phone rings. Matt answered it and it was for me so he handed me the phone. The guy said, "Katrina?" I said, "Yes?" He said "Is that how you pronounce it?" So immediately red flags go up and I was thinking dude-its 9pm. I am in my pajamas (as I am NOT a night owl) and am ready for bed. I don't want telemarketers or weirdos right now. I am hosting a rather large Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow and am not in the mood. But I said "yes..." He goes, "What kind of tequila do you like?" So I just hung up on him. I am not a drinker. I don't have a favorite tequila. I think its creepy that a telemarketer would call and ask me about tequila and my love for it. And then the guy calls back. This time Matt answered the phone. The man asked if he could talk to me and Matt said "NO" and hung up. And then the guy calls AGAIN!!! Now I am pissed! I am thinking that I am going to give this guy a piece of my mind and am ready to call the police if this continues (as some of you may know I have had other harassing phone calls and needed to get the police involved before...so my thoughts were NOT AGAIN!!) So I put my big girl panties on and was ready to tell this guy off. So I say "HELLO!!!" (not nicely I might add) And the man goes "WAIT! Don't hang up!!" I go "WHO IS THIS?!?!" (again not nicely) He said he was a chef at a local restaurant and was wondering if I had dined at Julio's this past month. I said that I had and wanted to know why. He asked if I had ordered a margarita. I said yes and again wanted to know why. Keep in mind I was still in no mood for any of this and wasn't very nice at all. He asked if I would say that I like Herradura Tequila. So I humored him and did. And then he said "You just won a 42" flat screen TV"......pause.....I go "OHMYGOD I am SO SORRY I hung up on you...a lot." Then everything clicked into place. About a month ago Matt and I took the boys and dined at Julio's...which is now my favorite restaurant by the way. Everyone should go there!!.....I ordered a maragrita and they said that if I upgraded to the Herradura Maragrita at no extra cost that my name would be entered into a drawing for a TV. I said sure why not. And then never gave it another thought as I have NEVER won ANYTHING!!! So now I can officially say I have won something big and I LOVE Julios and my new TV!! Matt and I are still in shock that all this happened. Crazy huh?

On a side note. Matt and I went to pick up the TV today. Everyone there was really nice about it and thought that it was hilarious that I kept hanging up on the guy. Thanks again Julio's! Best margarita I have EVER had!!
